I Blame FIPAG (Austine Woode of Abusua FM)

On the 11th of November 2017, there was a serious discussion about the rebranding of the Kumasi movie industry “Kumawood” at the studios of Abusua FM 96.5 “Abusua Chat Show” with Austine Woode.

The Abusua FM star Austine Woode and his crew made series of comments and blames the leaders of  FIPAG for the low demand of locally produced movies and urged them to resist from their selfish gains and do the right thing to redevelop the industry again.

He also added, most of the Kumawood stars should be dropped and pave the way for the upcoming stars, Ghanaians are fed up with the old faces. He added, the Kumawood needs actors and actresses who will be proud of Kumawood and not someone who will publicly addressed “she hates to be tagged with that Kumawood” (Emelia Brobbey) forgetting it was the same Kumawood who made her who she is now.

If things continue to be the “kwadwo Nkansa Liwin” then the industry will continue to be the same, it is time for new faces to be introduced. There are a lot of negative actions in the industry which is destroying the industry and the leaders know it, but have folded their arms.

Abro, a well-known personality in the Kumawood, who was at the studios of Abusua FM on the said date, added, the younger ones should be given the opportunity to exhibit what they have for the industry. The producers should give the upcoming directors the opportunity to direct their movies and employ the trained script writers for the scripts and stop the way side scripts they have been shooting. The movie world is growing and we must also grow to meet the standard and we can only meet that, if the younger ones are given the opportunity and we need new faces.

The Ghana movie industry needs laws to help its rebranding and movies must be previewed by the authorities before they are supplied to the market.
