The Face of Kumawood ( recovery of the year)
The Kumasi movie industry which happens to be the largest film making industry in Ghana is calling for a rebranding in its content. Some years ago, the Kumasi movies were highly demanded in the Ghanaian movie market because it was rich in content, the rebranding has led to the recovery of actress “Akua Adwubi”, a come back into the Kumasi movie industry.
AKUA ADWUBI
In an interview with AKUA ADWUBI about her being the female face of the Kumasi movie industry towards its rebranding, this is what she said:
AKUA ADWUBI, I have been in the industry for a very long time at a tender age and for some reasons I needed to have a vacation from acting.
Am very happy to have a recovery (return) in the industry once again, I was loved and still being love by most of the directors, actors and actresses. It has always be my dream to be an actress and a good one, I remembered when I first came into the industry, Nana Ama Mcbrown was my first “teacher” I attended her acting classes with a couple of friends, she once told me “Adwubi you have everything to be a celebrity, but you must have a self-respect and discipline yourself for others to respect you ” she added you can do more than what am doing, you have a bit of comic in you.
When I decided to come back into the movie industry, I met a very noble actor and a director REV. ISAAC AIDOO “Paa Kwasi” who introduced me in all the movies he directed and also introduced me to most of the directors in Kumasi. She added, I own him a lot.
I have worked with most directors and I have six movies to my credit this year, of which I was a supporting character in four of the movies and a lead character in the remaining two movies. I have one TV series to my credit “Back Up” which will soon be on Adom TV, directed by Jones Agyeman of JA Films.
She added, with God all things are possible and I know He will take me to my destination. I love acting.
